BOEKEN PRINTEN OP AANVRAAG


Sinds kort staat in het magazijn van het Centraal Boekhuis, de organisatie die zorgt voor de distributie van bijna alle Nederlandse boeken, een printing-on-demand-machine. Zo'n printer kan in tien minuten tijd een boek maken voor een veel lagere prijs dan de traditionele offsetdruk. Concurrentie voor de traditionele drukkerij, dus.

Ook in het American Book Center in Amsterdam komt binnenkort een machine te staan. De boekwinkel hoopt de investering van een ton binnen enkele jaren te hebben terugverdiend.

Eerder was er al -het ook internationaal actieve- Lulu met dezelfde dienst. Lulu fungeert echter ook als uitgever, verkoper en distributeur en biedt dus veel meer. (red)

GOED DESIGN IS KASSA
Het Financiële Dagblad 20 juli 2010

Beter ontworpen product laat de kassa rinkelen. Voor elke euro die een bedrijf stopt in design krijgt het gemiddeld 1,20 euro terug. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van de Rotterdam School of Management en de TU Delft onder 163 Nederlandse bedrijven.

BEZUINIGEN KUNSTEN VIA KEUZES
Economische waarde kunst en cultuur

Bezuinigingen tot 200 miljoen euro hangt de kunstsector boven het hoofd. De kunstinstellingen hebben echter weinig mogelijkheden tot kostenbesparing. De bezuinigingen zijn alleen haalbaar als er ingrijpende keuzes worden gemaakt. Dit concludeert onderzoeksbureau Berenschot dat de economische waarde van kunst en cultuur in kaart heeft gebracht. De economische waarde bedraagt maar liefst 70 miljard euro per jaar. Waarvan de helft inkomsten zijn die de toeristische sector verdient aan kunstliefhebbers.



Deze cijfers presenteerde Berenschot tijdens het Cultuurdebat in Paradiso dat zondag 29 augustus als afsluiting van de Uitmarkt werd gehouden.
